The first edition of this Italian poster was created for the centenary of the discovery of the voltaic battery, in 1898. The lithograph was published by Les Maîtres de l'Affiche in L'Imprimerie Chaix in 1899. It was part of the eponymous portfolio (plate no. 160) featuring the finest illustrated posters by the great artists of the time. Very good condition, small tear at bottom leaf edge and light stain in upper left corner.
