Nicolas DE STAEL (1914-1955) Agrigente, 1960 Heliogravure after a painting on paper from 1954 Signed in the plate On paper 35.5 x 27.5 cm INFORMATION: This print was published by Fernand Hazan in 1960 for one of the first portfolios devoted to Nicolas de Staël. Painted in 1954, from memory and from drawings brought back from his trip to Sicily in the late summer of 1953, this vividly colored painting expresses the culmination of de Staël's research into both the light of the Midi and his interiorized vision of landscapes reduced to their essential lines.
