BRENOT PIERRE LAURENT RAYMOND - Lot 123
BRENOT PIERRE LAURENT RAYMOND Vita Food Vite en Forme Pierre Laurent Brénot began his career as a fashion stylist, working for some of the greatest Parisian couturiers of his era from 1936 to 1950: Yves Saint-Laurent, Dior, Nina Ricci, Balmain, Lanvin, Fashionnable... It was during this period of hard work that he honed his skills, creating drawings that depicted, above all, clothes and, underneath, the emerging female body. The next period would bring him fame and the nickname "father of the French pin-up". In particular, he created the famous Lido pin-up, which became the cabaret's trademark image for several decades. This pin-up can still be found on merchandising items sold in the Lido boutique. Other clients included the Casino de Paris - with all of Line Renaud's revues - and the Folies Bergères. He also worked on movie posters: "La mariée est trop belle" (with Brigitte Bardot, Micheline Presle, Louis Jourdan and Marcel Amont, 1956), "La femme et le pantin" (with Brigitte Bardot and Antonio Vilar, 1959), "Le déjeuner sur l'herbe" (by Jean Renoir, 1959), "Julie la rousse" (with Pascale Petit, Daniel Gélin, René-Louis Lafforgue and Jacques Dufilho, 1958)... He also created the famous dressed/undressed pin-ups featured on the double-page spreads of Paris flirt and Paris Hollywood magazines. Much of his work was devoted to advertising. This led him to work for some of the biggest brands of his day: Jesos, Chantel, la Vitelloise, Lustucru, Bougeois, Kodac... During this period, he focused on sublimating the female body.
