Charles WISLIN (1852-1932) Games of light in the forest, c. 1910 Oil on canvas Monogrammed on verso Located in Chevrainvilliers, Seine et Marne On canvas 54 x 76 cm INFORMATION: Pastels and oils on canvas form the core of the work of this pleinairist, who was noticed as early as 1886 by Guy de Maupassant. For over half a century from 1880 onwards, his works were exhibited in group shows in Paris, mainly at the Salon des artistes français and the Salon des indépendants. The Benezit dictionary notes: "His landscapes of France show his taste for research into changing lighting according to the time of day and the seasons. His technique is often close to that of the Impressionists."
