Pablo PICASSO (1881-1973) Carmen, in profile, 1949 Original aquatint etching (Atelier Lacourière, Paris) Unsigned Dated in the plate On Arches wove paper 49 x 35 cm REFERENCE : - Bloch catalog raisonné #572 - Catalog raisonné Cramer #52 - Baer catalog raisonné #835 INFORMATION : This is one of only 6 proofs printed before the plate was steel-coated. This etching was produced in 1949 for Prosper Mérimée's Carmen portfolio. PROVENANCE: Marina Picasso, granddaughter of the artist (stamp on verso). Very good condition, slight traces of faded framing and minor foxing in the margins.
