Pierre SOULAGES (1919-2022) Brou de Noix (Antagonismes), 196 - Lot 356
Pierre SOULAGES (1919-2022) Brou de Noix (Antagonismes), 1960 Lithograph (atelier Mourlot) Set in stone by Charles Sorlier under Soulages' supervision from a 1947 brou de noix Signed in pencil Numbered / 150 copies On Arches wove paper 79 x 56.5 cm INFORMATION: Pierre Soulages claims to have begun painting trees and their bare branches at the age of seven, and to have been interested in the abstract interweaving of vertical and horizontal bands, starting from the figure of the tree. This was also the case for Piet Mondrian and Jean Bazaine later on. Mondrian drew his orthogonal grid from this figure, while Bazaine created a flexible grid in which splinters of light filtered through the branches appear. Soulages, for his part, will never represent the silhouette of the tree. He will retain its structural energy and the way in which the plant structure occupies the surrounding space. Very good condition, minor handling defects, slightly reduced margins The works on paper (posters, prints) will be sent in a reinforced tube with tracking and insurance up to 500€, by MBE Paris VIII at the following rates: - France 39€ - EU + UK 49€ - Switzerland 79€ - USA / Canada 109€ - Rest of the world 125€.
