Elisée MACLET (1881-1962) Château à Montmorency Original watercolor and gouache Signed lower left On wove paper 43 x 57 cm on view Presented in a gilded baguette frame 64 x 78 cm INFORMATION: The small castle, now disappeared, represented in this watercolor is the Hermitage of Montmorency. It was made famous by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who stayed there for several years and wrote "La Nouvelle Héloïse". The château was remodeled in the mid-19th century (as it appears in this work by Maclet) and later became a rest home.
