Roger CAPRON
Roger CAPRON (1922-2006) Coffee table model SOU-CHONG with square top and rounded corners geometric decoration in the center of four brown ceramic tiles, on the edges of stoneware tiles. Wooden structure with four small cylinder feet. Signed on a tile R. Capron W: 91 cm; H: 30 cm NOTES: After the Second World War, young artists followed in the footsteps of the Ramié couple and Pablo Picasso, and settled in Vallauris to try their hand at ceramics. Roger Capron is one of these artists who contributed to the golden age of the city of ceramics. In the 1950s, he created a workshop for the production of quality works, available to all. He will produce pieces of forms, furniture but also ceramic tiles on order of the State, for example in the maritime station of Cannes. This table, whose production is to be placed in the years 1960-1970 and bearing a pretty name evoking the tea ceremony, will delight the amateurs of vintage design.
