Seccotine Glue... Even for iron! Seccotine was invented in Ireland and was first marketed and patented in 1894 by John Stevenson MA (1851–1931). The original manufacturer was the commercial printing firm McCaw, Stevenson & Orr Limited of Belfast (founded in 1876). In the early 1960s, a new product, Seccotine No. 2 PVA, was introduced. The products and their trademarks for the United Kingdom and other clearly defined countries around the world were sold in 1968 to the Royal Sovereign Group of Companies. The Martin establishments in Paris, which were already manufacturing under license in France, acquired the trademarks for use in what were then the EEC countries and certain other designated territories.
