BRASSAI (Gyula HALÁSZ) (1899-1984) Snakes on our heads, 1970 Original ink drawing Signed in ink On paper 24 x 15.5 cm PROVENANCE: This drawing comes from the personal collection of Pierre Lhoste. A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913-1984) asked the personalities he interviewed to sign an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thus creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Brassaï was a Hungarian photographer, painter and writer who became a French citizen. Best known for his Paris by Night (1933), he worked with Picasso, Henry Miller and Salvador Dalí. He also took portraits of artists and published Conversations with Picasso (1964). His photographs are held at MoMA and the Centre Pompidou. On verso, drawing and autograph by Serge (1909-1992). Very good condition, edges slightly damaged and yellowed.
