Andrea BRANZI (1938)
Andrea BRANZI (1938) Suite of 4 chairs model "Lubekka" in black lacquered wood. Publisher Cassina. H. 90 cm The foot of a chair damaged, discoloured, stains, wear and scratches. NOTES: An internationally renowned designer, Andrea Branzi was part of the prestigious iconic avant-garde design groups Archizoom and Memphis. He received the Compasso d'Oro, an Italian award for the best designers, in 1983. In the 1990s, he had a series of chairs published by the prestigious Italian publishing house Cassina and designed this model in 1991. Inspired by the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the Lubekka chair is a resolutely modernist work with its detached seat and linear construction. Placed in isolation, it offers a sculptural dimension to an interior. Placed in series, it becomes modular and can be used to create a semi-circular or wave-shaped bench.
