Pierre CRUEGE (1913-2003)
Pierre CRUEGE (1913-2003) Solid oak desk with a double base in profiled and cut out panels holding a flap box and fitted with shelves and storage units. Circa 1955. H: 139 cm ; W: 69 cm. Slight chip on the front, scratches on the top shelf, some stains on the inside of the flap. NOTES: An artist from Bordeaux, Pierre Cruège studied at the Decorative Arts section of the Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux where he attended classes with Réné Buthaud, Master of Art Deco ceramics. Initially working as an interior decorator, after the Second World War he created the company "Formes" to publish his furniture. This secretary with flap is typical of his work in the 1950s: like Marcel Gascoin or Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Cruège focuses on natural materials by using solid oak. He favours the purity of the decor which highlights the line of this piece of furniture with its openwork base and organic cut-out. A light, decorative and functional piece that adapts to all types of interiors, to be placed in a child's room as well as in a living room.
