Roger CAPRON
Roger CAPRON (1922-2008) Earthenware vase of diabolo form decorated on a milky white background with horizontal lines and forming U, black and orange. Blue interior. Circa 1950. Signature Capron Vallauris, first period. H. 21 cm Traces of wear inside. Slight chips on the base. NOTES: After the Second World War, young artists followed in the footsteps of the Ramié couple and Pablo Picasso and settled in Vallauris to try their hand at ceramics. Roger Capron is one of these artists who contributed to the golden age of the city of ceramics. In the 1950s, he created a workshop for the production of quality works, within the reach of all. He will produce pieces of shapes, furniture but also ceramic tiles on order of the State, for example in the maritime station of Cannes. This Diabolo vase, with its typical 1950s shape, was cast and then individualized by a unique decoration on each piece. A decorative and original piece with a pretty blue interior bringing a colourful twist.
